Who we are

Founded in Lugano in 1928, Chocolat Stella SA is an independent, family-owned business that has been owned by the Müller family for three generations. We have always been committed to the promotion of Swiss quality. We are driven by a culture of innovation and a strong pioneering spirit that leads us to develop niche products with high added value.

In 1988, the production facilities were moved to Giubiasco, and with the 2014 expansion, the factory meets the highest international production standards. We export 70 percent of our products to more than 50 countries around the world.

Production

We process our chocolate in the best Swiss tradition of quality. We have great expertise in the selection of the best raw materials as well as in the development of innovative and original recipes, always in step with consumer needs. We pay great attention to health aspects and food safety; we do not use GMO (genetically modified organisms) ingredients. We carefully assess the risks inherent in allergens and food intolerances. We work with cocoa beans from 20 different countries, which allows us to develop 350 basic recipes. More than 65 percent of our products are certified Organic and Fairtrade (fair trade).

Sustainability

We care about sustainability in social, business ethics and the environment. We have received awards inherent in the "Let's Act Together" initiative for professional reintegration and the "Equal Opportunity Award" for our contribution to the integration of women into the workforce. We are pioneers in the production of Organic and Fairtrade chocolate. We purchase our raw materials directly from cooperatives of small-scale producers in different production countries around the world. We participate in their development with economic and technical contributions to support their projects.

We are among the producers with the lowest environmental impact. Our energy requirements and CO2 emissions are lower than the average values of the Swiss industry in this sector.
