The history of the bakery-restaurant business takes us back to 1933. At that time Hugo and Emma Wick bought the business from the Fitzi-Heim family. The production consisted mainly of Ruch, half-white and wholemeal bread. Only on feast days, Christmas and Easter, braids were produced. Even then, the fine nut croissants, still made by hand today, were part of the assortment.

In 1965, Rösli and Peter Wick-Hanselmann took over the business. In 1985, the owners decided to renovate the restaurant and bakery. Thus, the business was not only redesigned, but also enlarged. A terrace with about 35 seats and a great view of the Alpstein massif was also added.

From February 1985, Rösli and Peter Wick welcomed their customers in the new location with approx. 45 seats. The offer in restaurant and bakery, confectionery was accordingly also enlarged. Now a large bread assortment, various dry patisserie as well as on weekends also cream patisserie belong to the offer. From Chäshörnli, to ham in dough, to Gemsli Rösti, almost everything is now available in the cozy, wood-paneled restaurant.

In 2004, Rita and Albert Sturzenegger-Zeller took over the business. The previous assortment was again expanded with confectionery and confectionery products. confectionery products. Our products are produced daily from the best raw materials. They are all 100% homemade. We attach great importance to freshness and quality. The Gemsli is now a bakery - confectionery - confectionery and restaurant.

In July 2017, Marcella and Ramon Sturzenegger-Tanner founded the Konditorei-Confiserie Gemsli GmbH. They took over On August 1, 2017, they took over the business from Rita and Albert Sturzenegger-Zeller, who continue to actively support them in the store and the bakery.

In January 2019, we completely rebuilt the store. This now shines in new splendor.
